I’m Lisa, and this is "You, But Online" a channel about confidence, and being unapologetically yourself on social media.

 

Back in 2011, I relocated from Lanzarote and opened my own beauty salon on the high street, right as social media was starting to explode for businesses. I had no idea how to talk to an audience I couldn’t see.

 

It was awkward, uncomfortable, and honestly, a bit terrifying. It took me years to realise people were actually watching, I just couldn’t see them watching. That gap, between what you feel and what’s actually happening, is what this whole new YouTube channel of mine is built around. You don’t need to become someone else to succeed online. You just need to become you, but online.

 

Here, I share honest, unfiltered thoughts on showing up, letting go of the need to be perfect, finding your real voice instead of your “online” one, and figuring out how to be yourself on camera, even when it feels a bit cringe to start with. Because it always does, at first.

 

I’ve built and monetised YouTube channel before, it took me 10 months, but if I’m honest, a lot of what I’ve done on my personal lifestyle channel until now has been experimental. It is really just about my life, built without much of a plan behind it, It started as a hobby something new to learn, now here we are, everyone is asking me how to do it, what are the secrets to success.

 

But this one’s different. I’m building this from the ground up, properly, as an actual business, not a hobby, not a side hustle.  Can I do it again? will 2 years experience  give me any advantage?

 

What's driving me?

This is what I want ready for when I eventually step away from my corporate job. An opportunity for me to semi-retire maybe? So this channel isn’t just me talking about confidence and showing up online, it’s me actually doing it, in real time, building a business, documenting the whole process, so you can watch exactly how it’s built, mistakes and all.
